Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju tests positive for COVID-19

India is in the midst of a rapidly rising COVID-19 count as cases continue to surge with each passing day. Today, there were as many as 2,34,692 cases which were reported freshly which is the biggest spike ever in the country so far. Such has been the impact of the second wave of the virus that positive COVID-19 tests for celebrities and eminent figures as is the case with the general public has become extremely common.
In that vein, India’s Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju tested positive for COVID-19. He took to Twitter to announce the news and ask people he had come in contact with to get themselves tested. It is noteworthy that Rijiju was in Uttarakhand on Friday in order to inaugurate a Water Sports and Adventure Institute in Tehri. CM Tirath Singh Rawat who had earlier tested positive for the virus was also with him at the function.
Kiren Rijiju announces news of positive test
Kiren Rijiju took to Twitter to announce the news as he wrote, “After getting repeated test for Covid-19, today my report has come out positive. I’m taking the advice of the Doctors. I request all those who have come in my contact recently to be observant, exercise self-quarantine and get themselves tested. I’m physically fit and fine.“
‘Get well soon’ messages and ones of support started to pour in for the Minister soon after he announced the news with sportspersons and sports fans calling for his speedy recovery.
