Stan Wawrinka parts ways with coach Magnus Norman after 8 successful years

Stan Wawrinka announced on Social Media on Monday that he has parted ways with his long time coach Magnus Norman after 8 successful years together with a heartfelt message. Wawrinka also stated that the decision to part ways was with mutual consent. This is a major change in Wawrinka’s camp just before the French Open commences next week.

Wawrinka and Magnus Norman have had a tremendous partnership together with Wawrinka’s major career titles including 3 Grandslams that have come under Magnus Norman’s reign. However, during the past year, Wawrinka has not been able to play his best tennis and has dealt with many injuries.

Wawrinka acknowledged on his social media post about the importance of Magnus Norman in his career and how he changed his game for the better. Wawrinka also mentioned that besides Norman being his coach, he was also a close of his and thanked him for what he had done to his game and career.

Stan Wawrinka acknowledged on his Instagram post about the impact Magnus Norman had in his career. Magnus Norman joined Wawrinka’s coaching staff in 2013 and together they won 3 Grandslams and achieved a lot of success together.

Norman, himself a French Open finalist helped Stan Wawrinka winning the French Open in 2015 using his expertise on clay. Norman was the former coach of Robin Soderling when Soderling became the first player to defeat Rafael Nadal at the French Open in 2009.
