Josh Allen has been a thorn in Cameron Heyward‘s side ever since their first faceoff in 2019. Allen won that bout and continued his dominance on Sunday as well.
The Buffalo Bills quarterback not only defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he also annoyed Heyward throughout the night. Allen took advantage of the big defensive tackle’s misery.
There was even a coming together midway through the second quarter. Following a failed sack attempt on Allen, he found Heyward yelling in his face.

Speaking with reporters after the game, Cam Heyward revealed that Allen kicked him while they were on the way back up.
The knee too my stomach? Just going back and forth, and I was ticked off the entire game, because as a quarterback, they are protected and I am not… It just pissed me off.

Heyward played angrily for the rest of the game. He racked up 8 total tackles and 2 tackles for losses.

Allen and the Bills arrived in Pittsburgh with the sole purpose of rebounding from their Week 12 disastrous loss against the Texans. The Texans’ defense terrorized Allen, sacking him 8 times and forcing three turnovers, including two interceptions.

As a result, the Bills lost the momentum needed to lock up the AFC’s top seed. Ironically, they received a helping hand from the Texans by defeating the Colts at home in Week 13.
Meanwhile, the Steelers lost to the dark horses of the 2025 season, the Chicago Bears. Mason Rudolph made his first start for the Steelers since the 2023 season, replacing the injured Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers returned to face the Bills. The 41-year-old sported a snug brace on his left wrist to avoid making the injury worse. Injury or not, Rodgers struggled to steer the Steelers’ offense while Allen kept making plays from the other end before beefing with Heyward.
When asked about the skirmish, Allen gave a cheeky reply. Rather than pointing fingers at Heyward, he said the incident fired him up and really got his “juice flowing.”

Allen’s body language screamed that he was ready to kick his game up a notch. The reigning NFL MVP threw 15 completions from 23 pass attempts for 123 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. He also rushed 8 times for 38 yards and scored 1 rushing touchdown.
The Bills won 26-7 and improved to 8-4, while the Steelers fell to 6-6. It was the second time the Steelers had dropped two straight games, previously falling to the Bengals and the Packers in consecutive weeks.
Rudolph briefly replaced Rodgers in the game. After throwing three passes, Rodgers took over the signal-calling duty until the final whistle. Rodgers ended with 10 completions from 21 pass attempts for 117 yards.
As for Heyward, he went another game with zero sacks. He hasn’t recorded a sack since helping to bring down Bengals QB Joe Flacco in Week 7. After 12 games, Heyward has accumulated 52 combined tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.
The Steelers made changes to Heyward’s contract prior to the start of the campaign. They bumped up his salary to $18 million AAV.
