India vs England 2021: India and Sachin Tendulkar superfan Sudhir watches first ODI from a hill near MCA stadium

The first ODI at the MCA Stadium in Pune took place without spectators behind closed doors.

India sealed victory in the first ODI against England thanks to a plethora of good performances from various players that made for an enthralling match. Following the wins in the Test series (3-1) and T20I series (3-2), India have now gotten off to the perfect start in the ODI series as well and would want to seal a series win before the players disperse to their respective Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises.

India rode on a brilliant knock from Shikhar Dhawan early on that set the tone for a big score. Virat Kohli contributed with a fifty as well while KL Rahul and Krunal Pandya got explosive fifties to take India to a score in excess of 300. Although England got off to a blistering start, they were pegged back by regular wickets from the likes of Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur to earn a 66-run win.

Sudhir Kumar Chaudhary is known to be one of the most passionate fans in India. The Sachin Tendulkar fan can be seen in almost all of India’s international matches. His hopes of attending all the matches for the ODI series took a hit when it was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that all matches in the series in Pune would take place without spectators behind closed doors.

However, Sudhir was seen watching the first ODI live from a hilltop near the MCA Stadium. The superfan was spotted by the broadcasters’ cameras during the match. He also posted images from his watching experience on his Instagram handle which have now gone viral.

The second ODI takes place on the 26th of March.
