Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a difficult Indian Premier League (IPL) season last year as they failed to make it to the playoffs for the first time ever in their history. The side’s approach of taking chases and innings deep before going for a final flourish did not seem to work wonders like it used to in the past. Only a late surge fashioned by Ruturaj Gaikwad helped the side avoid the wooden spoon.
This time around, CSK have made some smart buys at the auction such as those of K Gowtham, Moeen Ali, Cheteshwar Pujara and Robin Uthappa (trade window). Further, they will be buoyed by the return of their ace batter Suresh Raina who missed out on the 2020 edition of the IPL due to personal reasons. His return will give a much-needed boost to the middle order which looked brittle last year.
Suresh Raina posts picture with CSK coaches and MS Dhoni
The CSK players have been training in Mumbai ahead of the first leg of their tournament which takes place in the city. The players, staff and the social media handles of the franchise have been posting pictures and videos from their training sessions and Suresh Raina too posted a picture along with the CSK coaching staff and captain MS Dhoni.
He captioned the picture, “We are together not just because we are a part of the same team, but we are a family for a reason. Together since beginning. Whistle podu and lots of yellove.“
Along with him in the picture are captain MS Dhoni, head coach Stephen Fleming manager Russell Radhakrishnan, analyst Lakshmi Narayanan, physio Tommy Simsek and trainer Gregory King.
CSK begin their IPL 2021 campaign against the Delhi Capitals on the 10th of April.
