Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team doctor, Madhu Thottappillil has issued an apology for his controversial tweets. Reportedly, The tweets came across to have imitated the government after 20 Indian soldiers martyred during a face-off with Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh.

Thottappillil got suspended on Wednesday from Team CSK’s doctor’s post.

“On June 16th, I had put out a tweet. And after I realised that the words used by me were inappropriate and unintended. I deleted the same. But by then there were screenshots of my tweet being circulated and shared in social media,” the doctor stated in his apology note.

Thottappillil explained that he had no intention to dishonour Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in fighting the crisis.

“It was never my intention to belittle the great & herculean efforts taken by our Honb’le Prime Minister. Also, the Govt in taking care of all the citizen’s obligations of this great nation and its Army or our brave Martyrs.” Thottappillil wrote.

“I have always respected the efforts of the govt in its valiant war on Covid-19 pandemic. Also, the valor of the armed forces standing and fighting under adverse conditions.” Thottappillil added.

Thottappillil said he explains that his post may have hurt sentiments of thousands of people.

“I regret the hurt and anguish I may have caused too many people who read my Tweet. I wholeheartedly apologise for the same,” he wrote.

This controversial tweet was made by Thottappillil on Tuesday.

“Just curious if the coffins will come back with a ‘PM CARES’ sticker on them?” Thottappillil’s deleted tweet read.

But, later the CSK doctor deleted the tweet which had already gone viral on social media and the screenshots of it were circulated.

Chennai Super Kings said that Management was “not aware” of the tweet.

“The Chennai Super Kings Management was not aware of the personal tweet of Madhu Thottappillil. He has been suspended from his position as the Team Doctor. Chennai Super Kings regrets his tweet which was without the knowledge of the Management and in bad taste,” CSK tweeted.

Twenty Indian soldiers were martyred in “violent face-off” with Chinese troops and the Chinese side also suffered heavy casualties while facing the Indian Army.
