The nineteen-year-old Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand crushed Ajay Jayaram of India who had beaten Rasmus Gemke, seeded third. It was a match completely dominated by the three-time World Junior Champion. He did not break a sweat as he breezed into the semi-finals 21-9, 21-16 in just 29 minutes. Ajay clearly struggled, possibly due to a marathon match played earlier after a long time which could have taken a toll on his fitness levels and recovery.
