Star Indian Table Tennis player, Sharath Kamal took over G Sathiyan to become the highest-ranked Indian paddler after he grabbed the 31st position in the latest senior men’s rankings released by The International Table Tennis Federation.

All thanks to a superb win at the Oman Open last month that helped Sharath take a leap of seven spots to reserve the 31st position in the ITTF charts.

On this brilliant achievement, Sharath said, “Some positive news, amidst all the negativity currently. Feels great actually. Just the news I needed while I find myself away from the game during this lockdown.”

However, One of India’s rising players Mudit Dani has also made a remarkable growth in the senior men’s charts as the paddlar broke into the top-200 for the first time in his career.

After a good display in the recent events, Dani jumped up nine places to reach the 200th spot while Harmeet Desai (72), Anthony Amalraj (100) and Manav Thakkar (139) were among the other Indian men TT players who have themselves positioned in the top-200.

Meanwhile, in the women’s senior rankings, Highest Indian is Manika Batra at the 63rd spot while Sutirtha Mukherjee at 95th. Although, The ITTF rankings will now be frozen until the events resume.

Previously, ITTF suspended all its events until 30th June due to the Novel Coronavirus pandemic.
