James Dennis Alan Hamlin is an American professional stock car racing driver and NASCAR team owner who drives full-time in the Cup Series for Joe Gibbs Racing. He is one of the greatest NASCAR drivers not to win the championship. Hamlin was born on November 18, 1980, in Tampa, Florida, to Dennis Hamlin and Mary Lou Clark. He is married to Jordan Fish and has two daughters. He co-owns Cup out-fit 23XI Racing with NBA legend Michael Jordan.
Denny Hamlin made his NASCAR debut in 2004 in the Truck series for EJP Racing after his early upbringing around karting and the late model scene. He made his Xfinity Series debut in 2004 for Joe Gibbs Racing and his full-time debut in the second tier the next season. Hamlin has been a single-team driver since he made his cup debut for the JGR No:11 team in 2005.
Denny Hamlin’s maiden NASCAR win came in 2006 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with JGR in Mexico City. He scored his first Cup race win in Pocono the same season. His maiden Truck series win came in 2011 for Kyle Busch Motorsports in Martinsville. Hamlin has scored 48* Cup race wins, 17* Xfinity series wins, and 2 truck series wins in his career. He also has 3* Cup race wins credited to him as a team owner.
