Full Name Khamzat Chimaev

Khamzat Chimaev with just 6 fights in UFC  has risen to become one of the top dogs of the organization.

Born on May 1, 1994, in Chechnya, Russia, Chimaev began his wrestling career when he was 5 years of age and won the bronze medal at the Russian championships at a junior level. After moving to Switzerland from Chechnya he wrestled at multiple clubs and was considered one of the best wrestlers in the country.

Chimaev began his professional MMA career in 2018 and quickly made a name for himself. Khamzat Chimaev has stated that he started training in  MMA after he watched the fight between Conor Mcgregor and Jose Aldo. Chimaev made his debut in the middle eastern organization, Brave Combat Federation, where he went undefeated in three fights before signing with UFC in 2020.

He made his UFC debut in July 2020 and quickly became a fan favorite. One of the main reasons why Chimaev rose to prominence was because he fought continuously in two divisions and due to  his aggressive fighting style and dominant performances

Chimaev is known for his wrestling prowess and his ability to control his opponents on the ground. Until his fight with number 2 ranked welterweight Gilbert Burns Chimaev was on the receiving end of only 4 significant strikes. ‘Borz’ is also a promising contender for both welterweight and middleweight titles.
