Team Europe just needed one match of the Day 3 to wrap things up and win the Laver Cup for the 4th consecutive time. In the opening doubles of the day, Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev defeated Reilly Opelka and Denis Shapovalov in three sets 6-2,6-7(4),10-3 to bring the cup once again in Europe. Europe were the pre tournament favorites but no one expected them to win so easily. They lost just one match- the doubles on Day 1 and won a total of 8 matches. https://twitter.com/LaverCup/status/1442185661080117250 Casper Ruud started Team Europe's campaign on a positive note, beating Reilly Opelka in straight sets. Matteo Berrettini extended their lead with a dramatic thee sets victory over close friend Felix Auger Aliassime. Andrey Rublev kept the streak going with another thrilling win over Diego Schwartzman in three sets. Team World's only win came in the last match of Day 1 where the pairing of John Isner and Denis Shapovalov beat Alexander Zverev and Matteo Berrettini in three sets. Team Europe went into Day 2 with a 3-1 lead. It was all Team Europe from Day 2 onwards. The Day awarded 2 points for each match and Europe swept away with all 8 points on the line to take a 11-1 lead. Stefanos Tsitsipas beat Nick Kyrgios in the first singles which was followed up with a three set victory of Alexander Zverev over John Isner. Daniil Medvedev blasted past Denis Shapovalov while Rublev/Tsitsipas got the better of Isner/Kyrgios in three sets. Zverev and Rublev wrap things up for Team Europe Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev Heading into Day 3, Team Europe just needed 2 points to reach the magical 13 points barrier required to win the Laver Cup. The third day of the tournament offered 3 points for each match which meant that they needed only one match to win out of 4. Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev were in no mood to extend the tournament and beat Reilly Opelka and Denis Shapovalov in three sets 6-2,6-7(4),10-3 to win the match and eventually the Laver Cup.
