Taiwanese player who reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 was present at All England

A teenaged sparring partner of the Taiwanese national badminton team reportedly tested positive for Covid-19. The player was present with the team during the All England Championships. He had travelled to Spain for the Barcelona Masters and to Germany previously.

The news was shared by Danish badminton player HK Vittinghus on his Twitter account.

Indian players Saina Nehwal and Ashwini Ponnappa expressed shock at the news.

Several India players had withdrawn from the All England. This includes HS Prannoy who has slammed the BWF for not cancelling tournaments soon enough. Sameer Verma and Chirag Shetty also had pulled out of the All England due to the threat of the coronavirus but Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu and others went ahead with their campaigns.
