As per the 2021 cricket schedule for Team India, the team is to tour England for a five-match Test series starting from August. The first Test will be played between the two countries on August 4 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Before taking on England in their five-Test series, India will warm up in England this summer by playing two four-day fixtures against an India A side in July.
To keep the arms rolling, Team India decided to play a four-day practice game against India ‘A’ to warm themselves up ahead of the series. The warm-up match will take place at The County Ground in Northamptonshire in July later this year.
Team India will play practice Test matches in July
Northamptonshire and Leicestershire were confirmed as hosts of the fixtures on Wednesday, with the first game due to begin on July 21 at Wantage Road and the second at Grace Road from July 28. The first Test starts on August 4 at Trent Bridge.
“Some of the world’s finest international cricketers will be on show at The County Ground this summer as we welcome India and India A,” Northamptonshire County Cricket Club said in a statement.
“Ahead of India’s five Test series against England in August, Virat Kohli’s Indian side take on India A in a four-day warmup fixture that promises to be a showcase of high-quality cricket.”
“The Indian tour party will then travel to Leicestershire the following week for a second warmup fixture beginning the 28th of July,” the statement said.
England is currently in India to play four Tests, beginning in Chennai on February 5. It will be followed by five T20Is and three ODIs.
