The 2022 ATP Cup will be the third edition of the tournament that began in 2020 and is the first national team competition organised by ATP since the ATP World Team Cup that was held from 1978 to 2012. The tournament is held in Australia and acts as one of the build-up tournaments for the Australian Open, the season’s first Grand Slam competition.

The inaugural edition in 2020 was won by Serbia who defeated Spain in the finals to claim the title as they won the finals 2-1. In the second edition in 2021, Russia won the finals against Italy, winning the finals by 2-0 and will be the defending champions this year.

2022 ATP Cup: Format

16 teams are divided into 4 groups of 4 teams each with all group members playing against each other in a round-robin format with 2 singles ties and 1 doubles tie. Group winners will be heading into the semi-finals. Group A winner will take on Group D winner in the semi-finals while Group B winner will take on Group C winner in the second semi-final.

2022 ATP Cup: Prize Money

ATP Cup Trophy

The tournament offers $10,000,000 as prize money for the tournament. The inaugural edition offered $15,000,000 while the 2021 edition saw a massive cut in prize money due to the Pandemic. In 2021, $7,500,000 was given as the prize money while this year has again seen a rise in prize money.
