The Laver Cup has become one of the most exciting tournaments on the ATP Tour over the last few years. Since its introduction in 2017, the tournament brings the best players in the world together for 3 days of intense tennis. Given its unique format, it is also one of the most marketable events.

This year, Team Europe thrashed Team World 14-1 in Boston to win the Laver Cup for the 4th consecutive time. However all of the Big 3- Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic were missing this year at the tournament for some reason or the other.

Recently, 3-time grand slam champion Andy Murray expressed his willingness to compete at the Laver Cup next year. “I really like the event, I have seen it and I have enjoyed it this weekend,” he said.

He further added that he will strongly consider representing Europe next year in London if his ranking allow. “I think it is a good show for our sport. If my ranking allows me to be selected, I will strongly consider participating and representing Europe.”

Murray is currently outside the top 100 in the ATP Rankings and it is unlikely he’ll break into the top 10. However, out of the selected 6, 3 of the players are the captain’s pick and could play in the Laver Cup irrespective of the rankings.

After Team Europe won the 2021 Laver Cup, Rafael Nadal took to Instagram to congratulate them and then asked Roger Federer whether he’d like to play doubles with him next year. “@rogerfederer doubles next year?” Rafa wrote.

Federer replied by saying that let’s bring back the old Fedal back. “Bringing back the old Fedal in London would be amazing,” Federer wrote.

It will be a once in a lifetime moment to see all three of Federer, Nadal and Murray to play in the same team at the Laver Cup. We’ll have to wait another year to see if that happens or not.
