Barty has been the most successful player this season and rightly so, displayed her class on Arthur Ashe stadium against Tauson once again. She is coming off title victories at Wimbledon and Cincinnati and is also one of the overwhelming favorite to win the US Open this fortnight.

She started on a positive note on a sunny New York morning against Tauson and took charge from the baseline. She served well and opened up the court nicely for clean winners. She was aided by a nervous Tauson and Barty showed no mercy towards her and broke her upfront. She didn’t break much sweat and won the set comfortably 6-1.

The second set was a lot more tightly fought than the first. The young Dane calmed herself down and started to match Barty from the baseline. She even outclassed the world no.1 but got broken midway after a poor service game. Barty was serving for the set at 5-4 up but Tauson managed to break her and draw level at 5-5. But to her dismay, she got broken herself in the very next game and Barty then closed out the set 7-5.

The weather however cleared up today and the players were back playing under the sun. In the on court interview, Barty expressed how amazing it is to be back on Ashe under the sun.

I knew I was going to stop growing[height] at some age but I just wanted to be really accurate and learn how to use my serve effectively, that’s all I could do.
