Barty in the process of lifting the ‘Venus Rosewater Dish‘, became the first Australian woman in 40 years to win the Wimbledon title. It was also a special occasion for Australian tennis, as Barty won the Wimbledon title 50 years after her mentor Evonne Googalong Cawley won the Championships back at the 1971 Wimbledon.

Despite the numerous records Barty broke, there was one very distinctive record Barty achieved during her title run at the All-England Club this year. According to the Wimbledon compendium, Ashleigh Barty became the first woman to win the singles title wearing a closed-top cap since Alice Marble won the 1939 Wimbledon with a similar headgear.

Barty is currently 35-6 for the season, having gone 7-0 on Grass, 14-4 on Clay and 14-2 on Hardcourts. Barty started the year winning the Yara Valley Classic in Australia and made it to the quarter-finals of the 2021 Australian Open. She later went on to win her 2nd Miami Open title at the 2021 Miami Open to end a highly successful Hardcourt season in the first half of the season.

Barty then won the 2021 Stuttgart Open to win the 2nd Clay title of her career. She came close to another title at the 2021 Madrid Open but finished as the runner-up. Her end to the Clay season was not good as she had to withdraw from both 2021 Italian Open and then at the 2021 French Open withdrawing due to a hip injury.

The hip injury saw Barty skip the entire Grass season tournaments that are used as the build-up for the Wimbledon, with Ash coming directly at the Championships and went on to win the title. This will surely boost her confidence going into the Olympics, and with the Olympics set to be played on the Hardcourts, Barty will be a hot favourite for the Olympic medal.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics will be beginning from the 23rd July 2021 and will go on till 8th August 2021 where Barty will be next seen in action.
