Daniil Medvedev is the top seed coming into the slam, after World No. 1 Novak Djokovic’s exclusion. The Russian is so far started well to justify his seeding, defeating home favourite Nick Kyrgios over four sets in the second round of the Australian Open, and is one of the favourites to win the title this year. He will begin the quest for his 1st Australian Open title and try to take his performances to the next level from the year having finished runner-up to defending champion, Novak Djokovic. He has been in amazing form too off late. After winning the US Open, he made back-to-back finals at Paris Masters and ATP Finals last year.

Meanwhile, Botic van de Zandschulp comes into the third round after a crushing victory over veteran Richard Gasquet. Such was his dominance that the Dutchman didn’t loose a single game in the match. The 26-year-old started off his 2022 at the ATP 500 Melbourne Summer Set, where he performed admirably to reach the quarter-finals, where he lost to Grigor Dimitrov. After that, he participated in the ATP 500 Adelaide International, where he was less successful, getting knocked out in the very first round.

Daniil Medvedev would undoubtedly be the heavy favourite going into the match. The World No. 2 would be confident after defeating a player like Nick Kyrgios as early as the second round of the tournament. The Russian would be looking to score a simple victory here as one of the favourites for the title. Meanwhile, Zandschulp would be the underdog and would just look to put up a good fight to the first seed.

Match Prediction-  Medvedev to win in straight sets.
