The action continues on Day 2 of the Australian Open 2022. We got to see some great matches from the Men’s singles with some favorites winning the games in straight sets and some big upsets as well. Daniil Medvedev, Nick Kyrgios, and Stefano Tsitsipas looked in red hot form as all the three players won their games in straight sets. Andy Murray faced Nikolaz Basilashvili in 5-set Thriller and was able to come out as the winner.
Medvedev starts the run for the title in great style
Daniil Medvedev is the top seed at the Australian Open 2022 and is the favorite to win the Major this year. Medvedev was the runner-up last year and will be looking to go one step further and win the title that he was denied last year by none other than Novak Djokovic, who is not playing this year.
In his first-round match, Medvedev faced Swiss Henri Laaksonen and won the game in straight sets 6-1, 6-4, 7-6(3). Medvedev will be facing Nick Kyrgios in his second-round match on Thursday.
The Nick Kyrgios Show
Nick Kyrgios was all set for his first-round match against the Brit Liam Broady. He won the match in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-3, but there was so much more than just that in the match. Nick Kyrgios had put up a show for the audience to see and enjoy.
He did underarm serves from between his legs and lifted up the crowd because of his exciting style of play. Kyrgios will be facing Daniil Medvedev in round two and it won’t be an easy match considering Medvedev’s stature. However, one thing we could expect from that match is 100% entertainment.
A comfortable win for Stefano Tsitsipas
Stefano Tsitsipas won his game against the Swede Mikael Ymer in straight sets 6-1, 6-4, 7-6(3). Tsitsipas had some injury scares before the match and there was some uncertainty if he will be playing or not but the world No.4 put all that speculation to bed when he won the first-round match in straight sets.
Tsitsipas in his second-round match will be facing the Argentine player Sebastian Baez on Thursday.
Comeback WIN for Andy Murray
Andy Murray got his first win at the Australian Open after 5 long years. After having two hip surgeries the Brit was ready to play the tournament for the first time after the first-round exit in the 2019 edition.
Murray faced Nikoloz Basilashvili in his first-round match, both the players looked great but in the end, it was Andy Murray who prevailed as the winner 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(5), 6-4. Murray will be facing Japanese Taro Daniel in his second-round match on Thursday.
