Victoria Azarenka makes a good start to her Wimbledon 2021 campaign as she defeats Kateryna Kozlova 6-1, 6-3 in just 62 minutes. Victoria has not gone past the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam since 2015 and has not made it till the semi-finals of the competition since 2011 and 2012 Wimbledon and is still looking for her maiden Wimbledon finals.

Victoria looked in great touch credit to her pre-Wimbledon tournaments at Berlin and Bad Homburg where she made it till the quarter-finals on both occasions and also won a Doubles title with Olympics Double partner Aryna Sabalenka who has made it past the 2nd round already at the All-England Club.

Sorana Cirstea registers her first win at Wimbledon since the 2018 Wimbledon as she defeats Brit Samantha Murray 6-3, 6-3 in just under the 1.5 hour mark. Sorana had come to Wimbledon winless in her tournaments at Berlin and Bad Homburg before the Wimbledon began but made a positive start in her first round match.

Sorana’s best result at Wimbledon has been her three 3rd round appearances with the last one coming at the 2017 Wimbledon.

This will be the 4th meeting between the two veterans and their first meeting since the 2009 Wimbledon when they met in the 3rd round. Sorana has a career Grass record of 29-33 and is currently on 18-10 for the season having gone 11-3 on Clay this year. It will however be difficult for her to challenge Victoria who has been in great form. Victoria will be the favourite as she has a career Grass record of 56-23 and is 15-4 on the season and will look to have another easy match.
