Sorana Cirstea vs Tamara Zidansek: Preview

Sorana Cirstea
Sorana Cirstea

Cirstea has made the quarterfinals of the French Open in 2009. Although her success since then in Paris has been very limited, she will fancy her chances of going one step further in 2021. She has beaten quality players Johanna Konta and Daria Kasatkina enroute to his place in the fourth round. Moreover, she has only dropped one set till now in Paris. But perhaps, the most important point to note here is that the Romanian has enjoyed a fruitful season on the dirt this year by winning the title in Istanbul and later losing in the finals of Strasbourg. Given her recent run, she could book her place in the second week of the 2021 French Open.

Meanwhile, the Slovenian girl comes into this on the back of her stunning performance in the first round against Bianca Andreescu. She also beat Katerina Siniakova in the previous round. This will be her maiden appearance in the fourth round of the French Open. She is only 23 and it will be interesting to see how she responds to this challenging situation. Although she has been exiting tournaments after the initial few rounds, she has played plenty of matches on the clay this year to make her feel comfortable on the surface.

Although Zindansek has got to the third round of the French Open, it is important to note that she has never been at this stage of a Major before. On the other hand, Cirtea will use her previous experience of this stage and her current form on the clay will likely seal her spot into another quarterfinal in Paris.

Match Prediction: Sorana Cirstea should win in three sets.
