Two teenagers, Emma Raducanu and Leylah Fernandez played the US Open final this year and have paved a way for young stars to step up on big occasions. Gauff said that considering she’s still younger than both Emma and Leylah, their heroics have definitely inspired her.

“It was definitely inspiring for me, especially since I’m younger than both of them,” the American said.

Gauff, who has made her debut at Indian Wells also said that she is hopeful that she could win a major next year. “It just shows how much a year makes a difference, and what I can hopefully do next year.”
