World No.1 Novak Djokovic avenged his US Open final loss against Daniil Medvedev at Bercy and won his 37th masters title, beating the Russian in three sets 4-6,6-3,6-3. Medvedev looked in control of the match after the first set but a lapse in concentration from Medvedev was all Djokovic needed to stage a comeback.

The US Open champion was by far the only player from the NextGen who has really troubled Djokovic in the near past but the Serb once again proved why he’s regarded as one of the greatest of all time. The World No.2 was all praises for Djokovic after the match and said that there wasn’t a real ‘turn’ in the match.

“I’ll need a little more time to think about the match. I think there weren’t a real turn in the match. OK I could have hold my serve more, I could have been better on crucial points. Tennis wise, it was great and he was a little bit better,” he said.

He added that Djokovic was better on important points in the last two sets, which was the difference. “He was better on the crucial point in the second and third sets. I was better on those points in the first one. I think it’s that,” he added.

Medvedev also revealed that Djokovic was stronger in the key moments and called Djokovic one of the best in the history. “I made a good match against one of the best in history who really wanted to win, I could feel that. He was stronger in the key moments.”

Having played Djokovic on so many instances, Medvedev knows Djokovic well on court but also shares a good bond with him off the court. He revealed that one can’t have an influence on Nole’s mind.

“I you know Novak, you know you can’t have a mental influence on him. I knew he wanted the revenge. And I want it to be the same with me with the other competitors,” he said.
