Daniil Medvedev is one of the few players on tour who will never shy away from expressing their opinion on tour. The Russian is pretty red-headed when he believes that the decisions that are made by the chair umpire are not correct. He has had several meltdowns on court before, which includes breaking racquets and engaging with the fans.

A similar situation happened during his second round clash against Alexander Bublik at Rogers Cup. The Russian was handed a hindrance penalty after he apologized to the Kazak player, while the ball was still in play. Apparently, the Russian’s smash could have injured Bublik, as he was right on his face, so Medvedev apologized even before the point was completed.

Daniil Medvedev was not handed a big fine for his outburst on court during his second round clash against Alexander Bublik. When asked about going through as to what exactly happened, Medvedev stated that it was a funny situation.

First of all, it was funny. That’s a good thing. It was fun. If it was a breakpoint, it would be less fun,” said Medvedev laughing. However, the Russian was against the rule, and urged that the rule regarding hindrance must be updated.

For me, the thing is that either they should change the name of the rule, because ‘hindrance’, I looked at it on Google Translate, because I was not sure what it means. I thought it meant disturbance, like to disturb somebody. I was right. You can ask Bublik if I disturbed him by saying Sorry. He will say no,” added Medvedev.

Daniil Medvedev believes that he had the point under control, and there was no way that Bublik could have returned the ball.

I had the smash, which I would never miss in my life. I actually put it away. Even if he jumped, he couldn’t get the ball. So again, there was no hindrance. There was no disturbance,” added Medvedev.
