In the first semifinal of the Tokyo Olympics, Novak Djokovic will face Alexander Zverev. Djokovic throughout this season has been in hot form and has took his game to another level this week in Tokyo. He has absolutely smashed everyone he has face and has lost just 17 games in 4 matches including 1 bagel and 1 breadstick.

He defeated Hugo Dellien and Jan-Lennard Struff in the opening rounds and in the Round of 16, blasted past Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in straight sets 6-3,6-1. His most convincing victory of the tournament came against home favorite Kei Nishikori, whom he thrashed in straight sets 6-2,6-0.

As for his opponent, Alexander Zverev, he too has been in amazing touch in Tokyo and has delivered according to his stature. He is yet to drop a set and eased past Yen-hsun Lu and Daniel Galan in the second round. He then got the better of Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili in straight sets 6-4,7-6(5) to set up an encounter with French veteran Jeremy Chardy whom he beat easily 6-4,6-1.

Given his current run of form, it is unlikely that anybody would even come close in beating Djokovic. But Zverev definitely has the game to beat the Serbian machine and has done it before. Djokovic might struggle with serve early on and Zverev needs to make the most in the opening set.

If the German wins the opening sets, the match could go to anybody but it is unlikely that Zverev will beat Djokovic and reach the final. Expect the Serb to reach the final

Prediction: Djokovic to win in three sets.
