‘It was one of the places on my bucket list,’ US Open champion Emma Raducanu visits the New York Stock Exchange

British 18-year old Emma Raducanu has been the centre of attention since the past week for her heroics at Flushing Meadows. She became the first player in tennis history to win a grand slam as a qualifier, beating fellow teenager Leylah Fernandez in straight sets on Saturday.

Ever since her US Open triumph, Raducanu has been on a constant run in New York to attend events or interviews. After attending the Met Gala, Raducanu’s next stop was at the New York Stock Exchange. She visited the Wall Street during peak time and saw the market’s working in person.

“I am on Cloud 9 but so excited to be here on New York Stock Exchange,” Raducanu told Wilfred Frost on CNBC’s Closing Bell. “It’s the one place on my bucket list I had to check out before leaving New York. I’m just so grateful to everyone who made this possible.”

Emma expressed her love for finance and said that she has been learning these things in school. “It’s something that I’ve been studying at school in my A-levels. To see it live is just incredible.”

When asked whether she will be interested in the business side of tennis, Emma said that both he parents are in finance and hence, she’d love to get into it. “Definitely! It’s huge and I’d love to learn more about it. I’m at the beginning of my career but I’m really excited to learn and develop and hopefully along the way, I’ll learn many more things and get into the business side.”

Emma concluded by saying that visiting Wall Street was one of her dream and she has absolutely loved every minute of it.

“New York is such an exciting city with so much personality and character. Wall Street is just incredible,” Raducanu said. “I’ve dreamed of coming here. The bustle, the busyness, I love it.”

The Brit, who is projected as the next big thing in tennis given her marketing value, is now back home in England and will most probably be seen on tour at Indian Wells next month.
