Daniel Evans will make his 2nd appearance in Stockholm when he takes the court in the 2nd round. The former British No. 1 had received a bye in the first round given his seeding and is yet to register a win on indoor hardcourts this season. Evans last played at the recently concluded 2021 Paris Masters where he lost in the first round to Alexander Bublik going out in 3-sets after winning the first.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina has a winning debut in Sweden as he defeated Mackenzie McDonald in the first round, winning the match 6-2, 3-6, 7-5. Similar to Evans, Fokina suffered a first round defeat in Bercy last week and looks to go deep in the tournament so as to end the tournament on a high.

Evans will come into the tie with a career indoor hardcourt record of 153-86 and is 0-2 on the surface this season while having a season record of 24-22 across all surfaces. Fokina will take the court with a career indoor hardcourt record of 18-16 and is 9-9 on the surface this season and has a 30-24 record for the season across all surfaces.

Looking at these numbers, their recent form and performances in the past few weeks, it is difficult to predict an outright winner given their struggles this season and poor consistency. Fokina however remains the favourite for a tie that could swing either ways.

Prediction: Alejandro Davidovich Fokina to win in 3-sets
