Kyrgios’ antics on the field have been extensively covered by the mainstream media. From breaking rackets to having on-court meltdowns, the 26 years old has amassed a notorious reputation. For all his talents, his career-high ranking is just 13, which he achieved way back in 2016.

Lately, Nick Kyrgios has been struggling with injuries and has consequently slipped to a lowly 93rd in the world rankings. The Aussie has not played since September, when he participated in the Laver Cup.

The 26-year-old has received wildcards for two ATP 250 events- the Melbourne Summer Set and the Sydney Tennis Classic. The ace would thus be hoping to make a comeback in his home conditions after a lengthy injury layoff. The tournaments would serve as the perfect warm-up before the beginning of the Australian Open as Kyrgios would look to shake off his rustiness.

“I’ve been training at home in Canberra and here in Sydney and I feel good after an extended break from the game. I’m looking forward to the final hit-out before the AO, thanks to Tennis Australia for the opportunity to play,”– the Aussie had said earlier.

Kyrgios would look to win a title on his home soil as the only trophy won by him on home soil was in Brisbane way back in 2018. Both the tournaments are scheduled to take place in January.
