Hubert Hurkacz will come into the French Open 2021 hoping to break the streak of his poor results at the Grand Slam as this has been one of his best season having won 2 titles that includes the Miami Masters 2021. The 19th seed so far in his 3 appearances at Roland Garros has reached the 2nd round just once in 2019, and was knocked out in the 1st round in 2018 and 2020.
After his successful campaign in Miami, he played the 3 Clay Masters in Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome but couldn’t go past the 2nd round in any of them facing successive first round defeats in Madrid and Rome.
Botic Van de Zandschulp will make his main draw debut at the French Open 2021 as he was knocked out in the 2nd qualifying round in the 2020 French Open which was his debut in the Grand Slam. The 25-year old Dutch reaches the main draw after a 3-set win in the 1st round and consecutive straight wins in the 2nd and 3rd round to qualify for the main draw.
He has been on Clay since the Barcelona Open 2021, but except for the Estoril Open in Portugal he has played 2 Challenger Tournaments in the follow up to the Grand Slam with his quarter-final appearance at the Zagreb Challenger being his best result so far.

Hurkacz will come to Paris with a poor record of 1-3 on Clay for the season after having an impressive Hardcourt season so far being 13-3 on the surface. He has struggled on Clay for the past 2 seasons as well and his previous results in the Grand Slam show his struggle on the Clay. Hurkacz will be looking to find his Hardcourt form to move ahead in the tournament.
Botic enters the Grand Slam with a record of 7-4 with 3 of his wins coming in the qualifying rounds which will make it 4-4 before he began his campaign in Paris. However, as compared to Hurkacz he is slightly better on the Clay but he has been at the Challenger level more so the ATP level can push him on the backfoot a little.
