Benoit Paire vs Dominik Koepfer: Preview

Dominik Koepfer
Dominik Koepfer

The Frenchman is experiencing a poor season on clay this year. Despite playing seven tournaments in 2021, he has not been able to find any momentum in his game. His temperamental issues, coupled with drop in motivation too has been an impediment for his game. In the past month, he has suffered three first round exits in Barcelona, Monte Carlo and Rome. With a poor record of two wins and seven losses this summer, it is tough to see him create any problems for the roster in Geneva this week.

On the other hand, the German has experienced a relatively better season as compared to his opponent. The 27-year-old had to come through the qualifiers on clay during the Monte Carlo Masters, but has never managed to get past two rounds in the couple of tournaments he has played on the dirt this season. Out of 11 outings on clay for the year, he has won five and lost six.

Paire has found absolutely no rhythm to his game thus far and his mercurial approach to the game is only making things tougher. While we can expect some flashes of brilliance from the Frenchman, it is tough to see him get past a more secured German opponent in this round.

Match Prediction: Dominik Koepfer should win in three sets.
