Tallon Griekspoor vs Benoit Paire: Preview

Benoît Paire
Benoît Paire

Benoit Paire hasn’t had a very successful season this time around. He was knocked out in the very first round at Wimbledon 2021. To add insult to injury, his run at the Sparkassen Open was very impressive either. However, he did make a comeback in the German Open before coming into the Swiss Open.

Benoit was able to make his way up to the quarter-finals at the German Open where his journey was halted by Federico Delbonis in a hard-fought encounter. At the Swiss Open, Paire has started off in an emphatic fashion. He thrashed Jozef Kovalík in his first-round clash with ease.

Jozef did show some fight in the second set, but Benoit won crucial points in the end and eventually emerged victoriously. On the other hand, Tallon Griekspoor had to fight incredibly hard in his first-round clash against Argentinian sensation Juan Ignacio Londero.

Londero won the second set and took the game to a tie-breaker in the third and final set. However, Tallon kept his cool under pressure and won the contest by 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 to confirm his place in the next round.

Tallon Griekspoor came into the Swiss Open after a title victory at the Dutch Open 2021. He has momentum on his side. However, the way he struggled on several instances in the first-round against Londero suggests that he might get knocked out by Paire. This does promise to be an engaging contest.

Prediction: Benoit Paire to win in three sets.
