Over the past few years, Dominic Thiem has been one of the most consistent players on the ATP tour. The Austrian is currently ranked No.4 in the rankings.

Although Thiem turned professional in 2011, his first title only came in 2015 on the clay at Nice. Thereafter, he won two more titles on the same surface in Umag and Gstaad later in the year.

In 2016, Thiem ended up winning four titles. He won two clay court events on clay and also ended up triumphing on the grass and hard court for the very first time.

Three more clay titles followed in the next two years in Buenos Aires, Lyon and Rio de Janeiro. He also nailed his second hard court title in St Petersburg.

Maiden Masters 1000 title win at Indian Wells

However, Thiem’s biggest jump came in 2019, when he started of the season in fine fashion after beating Roger Federer at Indian Wells to win his maiden Masters 1000 title. He won two more hard court titles that season.

A year later in 2020, Thiem ended up winning his maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open, beating rival and friend, Alexander Zverev in five-sets in New York. As a result, Thiem pushed up the rankings and also made the finals of the World Tour finals in London.

Currently, the 27-year-old sits with 17 singles ATP titles to his credit. He is also projected as one of the favourites to win the French Open.
