France’s, Ugo Humbert will face Serbia’s, Miomir Kecmanovic in the second round of the Men’s singles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The young Frenchman, Ugo Humbert is currently ranked world number 28 and is making is playing at the Olympic Games for the first time. He turned pro in 2016 and won his first ATP title in 2020 in Auckland. He made his best ever Grand Slam finish in 2019 at Wimbledon when he beat number 16 seed Gael Monfils and 19th seed Felix Auger Aliassime to reach the fourth round where he eventually lost to Novak Djokovic.
Humbert was drawn against Pablo Andujar from Spain in the first round in Tokyo. The first set proved to be difficult for both players with the set going to a tiebreaker with the Frenchman taking the win. Humbert was able to take the second set easily giving him the win, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1. He put himself in the second round after a 1 hour 49 minute showdown.
Miomir Kecmanovic, ranked 50 is also making his Olympic debut at Tokyo. The Serbian turned pro in 2017 and won his first ATP title in 2020 at the ATP 250 Qatar Open. After reaching the second round of the Australian Open in 2021 and the semifinal at the 2021 Argentina Open, Kecmanovic achieved his career-high ranking of 38 in March 2021.
Miomir cruised past Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak in the first round at Tokyo. He beat the world number 115 in straight sets in just 77 minutes. Kecmanovic broke Majchrzak in the first game of the match and got an early double break in the second set, giving him the win 6-4, 6-2. At the end of the match, Kecmanovic won 30 points while, Majchrzak won 20.
