The Big 3 have ruled the game of tennis for a long time now. Sharing as many as 60 Grand Slam titles between them, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer have been the three pillars of the game. They have dominated men’s tennis for more than two decades now.

Many experts and tennis stars have opined that there might not be a trio like this that will share 60 Grand Slam titles and will be active at the same time. Moreover, it would be fair to say that their rule is far from over. After all, Djokovic won 3 Grand Slam titles in the 2021 season and made his way into the finals of the fourth. Talking about the Big 3, British tennis star Andy Murray had a few things to say.

In a recent interaction during the Antwerp Open, Murray was asked whether he regrets being born in the same era as the Big 3. In reply, he said, “do I regret being born at the same time as them? It’s a difficult question, obviously, on the one hand, I regret it because I tell myself that I could have won a lot more if they hadn’t been there or if I had been 5 or 6 years younger.

However, he also added that because of the Big 3, he got the chance to compete against the absolute best. “I would have had more opportunities. On the other hand, I had the opportunity to play and challenge the best players in history in the biggest tournaments,” he said.

“I was able to face Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros, Roger Federer at Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open and the US Open and always in the final, even at the Olympic Games, I obviously did not win all these meetings but I won a few. I feel lucky to have been able to play against them, they allowed me to improve by setting the bar so high.” he further added.

Talking about the next generation of players who have the capability to achieve great heights in tennis, Murray showed praise on Daniil Medvedev. “For me, right now, Medvedev is best equipped to win on hard,” Murray said. “He just won the US Open, but before that his hard results were excellent. I think his game is more complete than the others, (but) on clay it’s hard to say,” he further added.

Murray has been trying hard to regain his lost form after recovering from surgery and his recent performance at the Vienna Open suggests that he still has a lot left in him.
