Iga Swiatek (20 years old) took up a new challenge. The 2020 French Open champion was caught by photojournalists moving through the Warsaw streets in an “elka”. Does this mean that the tennis player now has less time for tennis? Certainly not! As Swiatek went on the driving lessons straight after training.

December and the upcoming Christmas season is a great time for many athletes to slow down a bit and recharge their batteries for the coming year. Iga Swiatek decided to prepare for the prestigious Australian Open tournament in January that she would use a looser calendar and enrolled into a driving course.

Photojournalists caught the Polish rocket champion after one of the training sessions, when she went to a driving school. The tennis player doesn’t forget about tennis even for a moment, as evidenced by the bag with rackets on her back.

As we can see in the pictures, the tennis player is very concentrated behind the wheel, just like on the tennis court. In one of the last conferences with Świątek, she was asked about her latest activities.

In general, I think I’ll be a good driver – said the tennis player with a smile. – I probably feel behind the wheel and I enjoy it. This is the most important. Driving license has been my goal for a long time. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic and the fact that I previously focused on the high school diploma, I was only now able to do it – explained the 20-year-old

The Australian Open tournament, appreciated by tennis players, will start on January 17th. The competition on hard surface will last until January 30. Last year, the main winners of the tournament were; Serb Novak Djokovic (men’s singles) and Japanese Naomi Osaka (women’s singles).

Among Polish tennis players, Iga Świątek, Hubert Hurkacz, Magda Linette and Magdalena Fręch are sure places in the main ladder based on the ranking. Kamil Majchrzak is among the reserve team.
