Although Fernandez had a really bad run after the US Open she was still the point of focus for many viewers. However, the Canadian just didn’t arrive with her A-game at the Australian Open and was crushed by Inglis in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.

After her shocking loss against Inglis, Fernandez was asked to comment on the match in the post-match press conference to which she said, “Today was just not a good day. Too many mistakes, I’ll give credit to Maddie she played a great match from beginning to end and unfortunately, I didn’t find the right solutions to get back in it and wasn’t able to make it to the third set”

When she was asked what would be the small changes in her game that could’ve made a difference in the game today, she said, “I wouldn’t know because the match is over right now. I can’t go back in time. But the only thing I can do right now is to get back on a tennis court and put in the hours work hard and just improve in every aspect. You know today was just a bad day in the office”.
