It is no surprise that the athletes take inspiration from icons of other sports as well and that is the case for Kylian as well. The young forward recently had an interview with Paris Match where he spoke about how much he has admired tennis legends Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal having seen them script history in his growing years.

“Do I still have idols? I no longer have idols, but I still admire those who have marked the history of the sport, including in other disciplines. I know what their exploits represent in terms of sacrifice, of effort. I watch basketball and tennis a lot.

“At Roland Garros, where I love to go, I had the opportunity to chat with Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal. I admire these champions who have been able to stay on top for many years. It’s not for everyone to have such consistency,” said Mbappe in his interview.

After a short stint at the 2021 Mubadala World Tennis Championship where Nadal failed to win a single match, the Spaniard dropped some shocking news regarding his status of playing at the 2022 Australian Open and particularly in the Australian leg.

Nadal has played only two matches since his defeat in the 2021 French Open where he had also picked up an injury that resulted in his season-ending in August itself. With many expecting the tournament in Abu Dhabi will begin his road to come back, it might just have postponed his return as the 20-time Grand Slam champion said he will speak with his medical team before taking the next steps.
