Iga Swiatek produced a performance from the top draw in the finals of Italian Open 2021. The French Open 2020 champion defeated Karolina Pliskova in straight sets in the finals. Moreover, the Polish teenager dropped a double bagel on the Czech, and lost only 13 points during the match.

Iga Swiatek has now claimed the second title of her season, after her victory in Rome. She will now defend her title at the French Open 2021, which commences in two weeks time. The Polish teenager reached several milestones on Sunday, with her 6-0, 6-0 victory against Karolina Pliskova.

Iga Swaitek has gained 880 points this week in Rome, and has entered the top 10 rankings. The 19-year old entered the tournament as the world number 15, and has gained five additional places. This will be of particular significance for the Pole, as she can get a decent draw in Paris, by virtue of her higher ranking.

Iga Swiatek lifts her first WTA 1000 title

Iga Swiatek lifted her fourth WTA 1000 title on Sunday, after a straight sets victory on Sunday. The Polish teenager also became only the fourth teenager to lift a WTA 1000 title. Victoria Azarenka became the first teenager to do so, after she won the Miami Open title in 2009. Bianca Andreescu was the last addition to the list, after she claimed the 2019 Indian Wells and Toronto title.

Iga Swaitek became the fourth player to inflict a double bagel on their opponent in a WTA Final. The latest one came at Bucharest 2016, where Simona Halep defeated Anastasija Sevastova in the finals. Swiatek dropped just four points in the first set, and was dominant right from the onset.

The 19-year old had a first serve accuracy going as high as 93%. This was a huge confidence booster for the Pole, who lost in the third round of the Madrid Open last week.
