List of players who have pulled out from Cincinnati Masters 2021

Due to injury concerns, many top players including the Big 3 have pulled out of the upcoming Cincinnati Masters, which is considered to be the most important tune up event for the US Open.

The most important tournament of the North American swing after the US Open, The Cincinnati Masters is all set to begin in 3 days’ time but its hype seems to be on a decline due to multiple withdrawals. Most of the big names have pulled out of the tournament since the past week due to some reason or the other.

All of the big three of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic won’t be competing at Cincinnati. Federer was the first pull as a precautionary measure towards his knee. Djokovic too confirmed that he won’t be participating at Cincinnati after the hectic Tokyo Olympics campaign. Nadal was scheduled to play at Cincinnati after Toronto but he too withdrew due to injury concerns.

Other top names that won’t be seen at the Masters are Dominic Thiem, Milos Raonic and Stan Wawrinka. Thiem has been out of action for more than a month now due to a hand injury while Wawrinka has been out of action for months now due to an injury.

Medvedev to headline the Cincinnati draw

The Cincinnati Masters will be the last big tournament before the all important US Open. Most of the top players will be seen in action tuning up for the last slam of the year. World No.2 Daniil Medvedev will be the top seed at the event in the absence of Novak Djokovic. The tournament will also feature Stefanos Tsitsipas and will mark the return of Olympic gold medallist, Alexander Zverev.

Djokovic is the defending champion at Cincinnati and hence it is assured that he, or anyone amongst the Big 3 won’t win the coveted Masters. Medvedev is the only NextGen player who has won the Cincinnati Masters. He won the title in 2019 beating David Goffin in the final.
