Daniil Medvedev vs Carlos Alcaraz : Preview

Daniil Medvedev makes it into the 2nd round for the 4th consecutive time as he continues chasing his maiden Grand Slam and move closer to the World No. 1 rank. Medvedev stands a chance to become the World No. 1 if he is able to win this year’s Championships.
Medvedev was up against Jan-Lennard Struff in the first round and took a sweet revenge against Struff who defeated Daniil in the 1st round at the ATP Halle Open 2021. Medvedev defeated Jan 6-4, 6-1, 4-6, 7-6(3) in 2.5 hours to advance into the 2nd round.
Carlos Alcaraz makes a winning debut at the Wimbledon as he battles past Yasutaka Uchiyama 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in a thrilling encounter that finished in 4 hours and 18 minutes. This becomes Carlos’s 3rd consecutive Grand Slam where he makes it into the 2nd round as he did at the Australian Open 2021 and later at the French Open 2021 coming in from the qualifiers.
Alcaraz entered the main-draw by the virtue of his rank being one of the youngest in the Top-100 of the ATP rankings and will now find himself up against the World No. 2 in his just 2nd match on Grass as he did not participate in any Grass tournament between the two Grand Slams in Paris and Wimbledon.
Daniil Medvedev vs Carlos Alcaraz : Head to Head

Daniil Medvedev vs Carlos Alcaraz : Prediction

Carlos will be coming into the clash with nothing to lose as he is playing in his first ever Grass tournament and will be facing the World No. 2 Medvedev, who comes in from a title run at the ATP Mallorca Open 2021. Carlos has a season record of 24-11 which include his Challenger level tournaments as well.
Medvedev will take the court as the favourite for this clash as he comes in with a career Grass record of 33-15 and an overall season record of 27-7. With a clinical performance in the first round, Daniil will look to have another strong performance and move past the inexperienced Carlos quickly.
Prediction: Daniil Medvedev to win in straight-sets.
