The 26-year old Italian similar to Millman is yet to go past the first round after getting knocked out in the qualifying rounds at the 2019 French Open and a 1st round defeat in the 2020 French Open which was his debut in the main draw of the Grand Slam. He has a record of 1-2 in the tournament.
This will be his 10th ATP Tour tournament on Clay this season. He has been fairly busy on the Challenger level as well winning a title at the Marbella Challenger. He has however failed to reach a final on the ATP Tour with his best result coming at the Serbia Open 2021 where he was defeated by eventual champion Aslan Karatsev in the quarter-finals.
