In the highly-anticipated semi-final, Muguruza went past Paula Badosa in a rather one-sided encounter. Badosa never looked in control and Muguruza ended up winning in straight sets. After the game, Muguruza praised Badosa for a wonderful year.

I’m very happy that I got the win. Very proud of Paula. She started the year far in the rankings, and now she’s a Top 10 player. Very impressive. She deserves a very well rest. Very happy for her year,” Muguruza said after the game. She also added that she struggled for a couple of games but eventually found her groove.

I feel like I struggled the first couple of matches. One, I didn’t find the way. The other one, I did. All of those circumstances help you to find the way, the way to play here, to find your shots, to serve, to have a game plan,” the Spaniard added.

Without a doubt, Muguruza’s confidence would be sky high as the top player has been simply unbeatable in the last few matches. She’ll face a highly-determined Anett Kontaveit in the final of the tournament who has also had a fantastic tournament.
