Andy Murray receives wildcard entry into ATP Cincinnati Masters

British tennis star Andy Murray has had an illustrious career thus far. The Scot has achieved a lot and is eyeing to add more feathers to his cap by making a thumping comeback at the highest level. Although he has been plagued by injuries in the recent past, the way he gave his 100% at Wimbledon does give an indication that he is itching to gain glory yet again.

Despite trying his hardest, Murray couldn’t perform as per expectations in the Queen’s Championships, as well as at the Wimbledon. With US Open in sight, Murray would be looking to make his presence felt at the Grand Slam and what comes as good news for him and his fans is that he has received a wildcard entry in the Cincinnati Open.

Before the world gets ready for the US Open, Cincinnati Open is closely followed by fans as the conditions there are pretty similar to what will be during US Open. Although Murray is not at a high point of his at this point, he is working hard to get better with each game.

His inclusion in the Cincinnati Open would give him a huge boost as he would like to go as further as he can in the tournament to get a good feel of the conditions and the court. Moreover, Murray has won the Cincinnati Open twice in the past and his fans will expect him to deliver a similar performance this time around as well.

The current World No. 105 and former World No. 1 Murray is not the only player who has made his way into the Cincinnati Open via wildcard; current World No. 45 Sebastian Korda has also been included in the marquee tournament. Young Korda has been in sensational form this season.

He was his first-ever ATP tournament in May 2021 when he went past Marco Italian tennis star Marco Cecchinato in straight sets in Parma. It will be interesting to see how these two players perform in the Cincinnati Open, especially when the highly-anticipated US open is not very far away.
