Naomi Osaka

Defending US Open champion Naomi Osaka is one of the most cool headed and introverted person on the WTA tour. She is known to mind her own business and doesn’t really express her emotions much on court. But the 4-time grand slam champion showed that she also could get frustrated when things don’t go her way.

In her third round match at the ongoing US Open against Leylah Fernandez, Naomi Osaka lost her cool after missing a series of easy forehands. Osaka, despite not playing at her best, looked set for a straight sets victory over the Canadian teenager.

She won the first set courtesy a late break of serve 7-5 and looked to repeat the same in the second set. She was serving for the set at 6-5 when things went downhill for her. Osaka started missing easy forehands and because of these unforced errors, she got broken and the set went into a decider.

All of a sudden, everything seemed to go against Osaka as she again lost on serve in the tiebreaker upfront. After a third consecutive forehand error from the baseline, the Japanese expressed her frustration by swinging her racket on court. She did the same thing again after the very next point only to hear some boos from the crowd. Thankfully for her, the racket didn’t break and hence she didn’t receive any code violation for racket abuse.
