In a tweet expressing this latest encounter, Gael portrayed his feelings by further stating that he would keep the tennis community and fans up to date with his condition and the time he’s likely to resume with the upcoming tournaments.

“Hi all, Unfortunately, and following the last examinations carried out on my return to Europe, I will not be able to defend my chances at the US Open this year. I will have to observe a new period of care before I can resume competition,” Monfils wrote.

Monfils who currently is stabilised at a world rank of no. 22 in the world, has proven to be quite injury prone in regards to him also cooping out of the 2016 US Open semi-finals as he was forced to undergo certain treatments before he could resume with the upcoming tour.
