Iga Swiatek matches Serena Williams’ 27 wins record as she enters the finals in Rome

The finals in Rome will be Iga Swiatek's fifth consecutive finals as she aims to win her fourth WTA 1000 title this year.

Iga Swiatek’s dominant run on tour continues as the young Pole marches into the finals in the Italian Open with a win over Aryna Sabalenka. This will be her fifth consecutive final in the WTA tour this year speaking about her dominance in the women’s circuit right now.

Swiatek defeated the Wimbledon finalist 6-2, 6-1 without even breaking a sweat as she marches into the finals in Rome seeking her eighth career title. The youngster was in a spot of bother against Bianca Andreescu in her last match but she held her nerve and came back strong. But Swiatek rose up to the occasion in the semifinals as she played her best tennis this week to beat Sabalenka in a one-sided battle.

On her journey to the finals, she has beaten the likes of Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the first round followed by a second-round win against Victoria Azarenka. She then marched into the quarterfinals and got the better of Bianca Andreescu followed by yet another dominant win over Sabalenka in the last four clash.

Iga Swiatek has till now been sensational on tour winning events such as the Qatar Open followed by the Sunshine Double where she won both the Indian Wells and the Miami Open. She then continued her winning streak with a splendid performance on clay at the Stuttgart Open and has returned to feature in the Italian where she has already reached the finals.

The Polish youngster did not feature in the Madrid Open as she wanted to take a break and rest her body for the upcoming Roland Garros. The major title in Paris is her primary aim as she continues to pile up consecutive wins. She only dropped 17 games in her journey to the finals of the Rome Masters. In the finals at the Italian Open Swiatek will face the winner of the other semifinal clash between Madrid Open winner Ons Jabeur and Russia’s Daria Kasatkina.
