One such story was recently narrated by 2-time Grand Slam champion and former World No. 1 Amelie Mauresmo who is currently the head of the French Open. Amelie recently spoke with L’Equipe and during the conversation brought out this story of Serena who apart from being arguably the most successful player always had time for her family and prioritised them.

“She is extremely family. It is a clan and its base. With Venus, her other sister (Isha) and her mother, they are always together. Today, her life revolves around her daughter. I remember in Auckland in 2020, at breakfast, Patrick (Mouratolgou, her coach at the time) gave her a match briefing, she wasn’t even listening because she was watching cartoons on the Ipad with Olympia who was dressed as a princess. It was lunatic,” said Amelie.

Ever since the birth of Serena’s daughter Olympia, the mother-daughter duo are often seen in different activities on social media and Olympia is one of the constant companions of Serena in all of the tournament appearances that she has made since the birth of her daughter. Mauresmo’s story is just another example of the bond that Williams sisters share as well and how the family has been going strong since their humble beginnings in Compton.
