Emma Raducanu and Clara Tauson

Apart from participating in the singles category, Emma Raducanu made her debut in the doubles category. She partnered with Clara Tauson of Denmark. The debutants played their first-round match against the third-seeded pair Lucie Hradecka and Monica Niculescu but eventually lost the match in straight sets 4-6, 1-6 in a span of one hour and twelve minutes. It was a comfortable win for the experienced duo as they totally dominated the game from the first point as Raducanu and Tauson lacked the coordination for their first match.

Even though Raducanu and Tauson lost the match, the young pair looked excited about being able to share some quality time during their brief stint and even the latter shared an image from the dressing room after their defeat. The image was captioned “Even though we didn’t win but we had fun“.In the picture, Raducanu was spotted smiling wide with her fingers held up to form a ‘V’, the universal sign of victory. This match will provide both players the much-needed court practice.
