After a lengthy injury layoff, Nick Kyrgios is set to return in 2022 at the Melbourne Summer Set and the Sydney Tennis Classic. During his time off from the game, the Aussie has been running a podcast called with his mates Alex Babanine and James Frawley.

In the latest episode, Kyrgios has lavished praise on legends like Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer. He added that the people take them for granted and should instead appreciate their mastery, instead of criticizing them at every chance they get.

“We just take it for granted. When they retire, people will go on about how they were the best, but while they’re playing, it’s always criticism,” said Kyrgios.

The trio described their 2021 as the year slowly draws to a close. They discussed how they had practiced hard, but also partied hard this year. They then went on to talk about the festive period, and how special the time is as they get to spend it with their families and also get time off from tennis.

“That’s what I mean, it’s a special time for all of us, spending time with our families and away from training. Everyone’s around, everyone’s in good spirits. People just assume you’re not training, like you’ve got a life to live too,” said Kyrgios.

The trio also discussed their feelings on getting older and eventually have to leave the sport and sustain themselves some other way. James Frawley went on to reveal how getting old scares him, but is inevitable in the end. He also said that having a plan B such as a business to which you can fall back when you get old is beneficial, but there is no point in being scared thinking about the future and we should instead enjoy the present.

“That scares me though, getting older. I know you hate this topic, but you gotta be able to have it. The most important thing is that you can’t stop it from happening, so you gotta embrace it. Just talking about it is not beneficial…planning into like Businesses and stuff is beneficial, like you gotta have some sort of escape plan, and that’s fine that’s mature, but to say what I’m gonna do after, like I got good things happening for me right now and I’m soaking it all up. This is your f***ing prime bro, focus on it.” discussed the trio.
