The two best players in the world currently- Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev are representing their respective nations at the ongoing the Davis Cup Finals. Both Russia and Serbia have qualified for the quarterfinals and will play Sweden and Kazakhstan respectively in the knockouts.

Serbia lost their second group stage match to Germany and were dependent on Russia for qualification. If Russia would’ve lost to Spain in their last group stage match, Serbia would’ve been knocked out in the group stage itself. But Russia defeated Spain and hence Serbia made it to the last 8.

For the very same thing, Medvedev took a cheeky dig at the Serbs, saying that during the match, he got a lot of messages from the Serbians- pumping him for the match. “It’s funny because during the match, we are already receiving messages from some ppl from Serbia, I’m not going to say who, and not only me, but a lot of us, saying, Let’s go, guys, we believe in you. I feel like that’s where it’s funny, in a good way, this format,” he said.

Russia and Serbia both will play their quarterfinal matches at Madrid. The teams were seen on court practicing where Medvedev and Djokovic shared a funny moment. Viktor Troicki is seen showing something funny to Djokovic and Medvedev and as a result, the duo can’t stop laughing.

Medvedev has time and again shared some light moments with Djokovic and even called him the greatest tennis player ever in his post match speech after winning the US Open. The duo have played three big finals this year and could even meet in another final if their respective teams reach the final.
